ANGUS GARDNER SAYS:
I love Robins, they are one of my favourite birds. I have one living in an outbuilding we use for hay storage and he or she (males and females look identical) follows me around the garden hoping that I might kick up some leaves that may lead to a quick food reward in the winter and in the summer months my robin watches me studiously when I dig over soil and quickly swoops in to grab any grubs or worms that may appear.
This seemingly friendly behaviour is in fact a display of just how intelligent and brave Robins are. They are in fact very territorial, independent, brave and fearless little birds often seeing off dozens of birds far bigger from a bird feeder.
It’s why I’ve illustrated my Robin as the caped crusader himself - any Robin I’ve ever come across would never be anyone’s sidekick.
This piece was released by Angus in 2023 as an independent artist, prior to him being signed up by Wishbone Publishing. The full edition was never produced making it even more desirable. We have very limited availability.
